Welcome to UfirstPhysio, where your well-being is top priority.
I’m Seán Woods, chartered physiotherapist and owner of UfirstPhysio. With a passion for helping individuals recover, rehabilitate, and optimize their physical health, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to every patient who attends UfirstPhysio.
Physiotherapy Qualifications
I hold a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Cumbria (UK) and am a proud member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) as well as the Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (CSP) UK. I hold dual registration with CORU in Ireland and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK. Furthermore, I have also completed a Bachelor of Science BSc (Hons) in Sports Rehabilitation and Athletic Therapy in Carlow Institute of Technology, which has provided me with a solid foundation in understanding and treating sports-related injuries and conditions. I also hold additional qualifications in Neuromuscular Therapy along with further qualifications in Strength and Conditioning.
Physiotherapy Experience
Throughout my career as a Chartered Physiotherapist, I have gained experience working in various fields of physiotherapy, including but not limited to; cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, neurological, intensive care, orthopaedics, paediatrics, elderly care, acute and chronic pain management, elite sport and specialist rehabilitation. Before returning to Ireland from the UK, I spent time working with the National Health Service (NHS), where I had the opportunity to treat a wide range of conditions and work alongside other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients across multiple settings including hospitals, care-homes and community based clinics.
Since returning home I have furthered my physiotherapy knowledge through extensive work in private practice treating patients of all ages and backgrounds. I have comprehensive knowledge and experience in a variety of evidence-based treatment strategies including, but not limited to; manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and functional rehabilitation, electrotherapy (including TENS and ultrasound), thermotherapy, and taping and strapping.
I have also worked with various sports teams as the lead therapist. This experience has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by athletes on and off the field of play. I am well-versed in sports-specific treatments, injury prevention strategies, and performance enhancement techniques. Beyond my professional life, I am a dedicated sportsperson and strength athlete myself having competed in a variety of sports including GAA, rugby, hockey, golf and Olympic weightlifting. This firsthand experience gives me valuable insight into the demands placed on athletes’ bodies and allows me to provide specialized care tailored to their specific needs.
